Introduction
The goalie
punts the ball across the field. The left defender of the opposing team gets
ready for a header. Out of nowhere, an offensive player jumps, challenging the
left defender for the ball. When both of the players jump, their heads collide. Both players experience a mild concussion from this serious
blow. If it was more than a small jolt to the skull (moving the brain forward), there could have been some minor brain damage. Concussions aren’t something to joke about, especially in
the sport of soccer. Players have gear to keep their shins protected, why not protect their heads as well?
